New Song: We Will Rise

March 1, 2013
The latest song we have been learning on Sunday nights is a truth-filled text about death, mourning, and the hope of resurrection we have in Christ. In light of the circumstances our body is facing right now, it is good for us to sing together of the truths of scripture that under-gird our faith and provide an emotional and spiritual foundation for those dealing with loss.

The best songs the church enjoys are those that most clearly speak to us the word of God. One reason this song has been so meaningful for our church is that it is to explicitly biblical. Some key scriptures this song draws from are:
  • John 12:24
  • Psalm 30:5
  • Romans 8:18-25
  • 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14
  • 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
  • 1 Corinthians 15:51-58
  • Revelation 21:1-5

The wonderful truth for those who know Christ as savior is that "because he is risen, with him we will rise." We hope you will learn this song with us so you can lend your voice to the congregation's declaration of hope in worship.

We Will Rise

Verse 1
A seed falls down from the heights
And is buried in the earth
It silently lies in the ground
Awaiting a rebirth
So it is with those who die
Their lips confessing Christ
Because He is risen
With Him they will rise

Verse 2
Shall we mourn as this world mourns
Or shall we rest in truth?
Though outwardly we waste away
Within we are renewed
The weight of glory far transcends
These momentary trials
Because He is risen
With Him we will rise
We will rise

Bridge
Weeping may last for an evening
But rejoicing comes with the dawn

Verse 3
To all the wonders God will do
Imagination’s blind
What He has made, He’ll make anew
In the twinkling of an eye
For death itself will be destroyed
Swallowed up by life
Because He is risen
With Him we will rise
We will rise
