Mochicahui Ministry Update: May 2013

May 15, 2013
This month marks the completion of our first year living in the town of Mochicahui in Sinaloa, Mexico where the Lord has called us to serve through the ministry of church planting. It has been a blessing to finally live in the community where we are serving after many years of traveling back and forth from Jahuara 2 where we had lived for the previous thirteen years. Living inside the community has opened many more opportunities to spend significant time building relationships with the families of the church as well as those who have yet to come to Jesus Christ through repentance and faith. We are very thankful for your prayers and sacrifices in helping us make this transition. We are joyful for the opportunities that we have had to use our home as a place for ministry through Bible studies, baptisms and other church events (like the recent young adult evangelistic outreach activity pictured above).

Last month we had the privilege of hosting a missions team of nine people from Calvary Baptist Church in Show Low, AZ that came to assist us with several ongoing projects as they served alongside us in ministry and we look forward to receiving others later this year.

In our last correspondence we asked for you to pray with us for the Lord’s wisdom concerning an opportunity to purchase a piece of property near our home that could serve well as a location to build a church and leadership training facility. Details concerning that piece of property were also presented to the rest of our pastoral team at Countryside and then to the remainder of our leadership team. After prayerful consideration concerning the location and its excellent suitability for church and leadership training ministries, the opportunity to join us in giving sacrificially towards the purchase of property was made known to the rest of our church family.

The property, measuring 1,725 square meters and located down the street from our home in this developing part of Mochicahui, has been made available at a price of approximately $15,000 US. The property sits just one block from the main street that runs through this area which is scheduled to be made into a paved boulevard connecting downtown Mochicahui and the new campus of the national Indian university. The property is also bordered on two sides with agricultural lands making it a wonderful setting for church and other ministries. The church presently meets in a rented facility downtown, where properties are rarely available and are much smaller and significantly more expensive.

Those who would desire to participate sacrificially towards the purchase of church ministry property in Mochicahui may do so by designating your gift toward “Mexico Property” through Countryside Baptist Church.

Please continue to pray with us for the Lord’s provision. Pray also for the Lord to continue using the proclamation of His Word through the pulpit and personal ministries where He has us involved among the Mayos and others who come to study here in Mochicahui from various tribes throughout Mexico.

May our lives reflect the glory of Jesus Christ as we serve Him.

Your fellow servants,
Brian & Danyel

Declare His glory among the nations,
His wonders among all peoples.
For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised;
He is to be feared above all gods.
