2016 Youth Retreat: Identity

February 27, 2016

Have you ever wondered who you really are or why you are here? Most people do. In fact, for thousands of years people have tried to answer questions like this to no avail. The way that you answer that question will determine how you are going to live. The exciting news for us is that God's Word does tell us who we are, and it doesn't stop there. Scripture shows us how we are to live and function because of our identity. Our aim at this 2016 Youth Retreat is to explore those very things: what our identity is and how we are called to live because of that identity.

Join us for an impacting week at a secluded camp in Missouri as we step back from regular life to be changed by the Word of God. We have a special opportunity to hear from two men who have a passion and vision to see students radically changed by the truth of God's Word: Steven Parkin and Pastor Michael Summers. Don’t miss out on this exciting chance to experience the power of God's Word without the hectic distractions of our scheduled lives! This week will prove to be an important step in your walk that will affect you perhaps for the rest of your life.

Our morning sessions will be taught by Steven Parkin. Steven has a passion for student ministry and holds a degree from Calvary Bible College. He served both as a deacon and on the worship team at Countryside before moving to Lawrence, KS in 2014 to help plant Redemption Hill Church. He also helped for several years in the youth ministry at Countryside, which grew his desire to minister to students through gospel ministry and discipleship. He currently serves as a deacon at Redemption Hill and desires to see God grow the student ministry there in the future. He and his wife Bradi have a beautiful new daughter Ruby.

Our evening sessions will be taught by Pastor Michael Summers. Pastor Michael graduated from Northland International University in 2008 with a degree in pastoral studies, and has served by leading the youth ministry at Countryside Baptist Church since 2010. In 2013 he was installed as a pastor at Countryside with a focus on student ministry. His heart is to see youth surrender their hearts to Christ and be discipled in the truth of God's Word. Pastor Michael has been married to Kim since 2008 and loves being a father to their son Thomas and daughter Mary.
